Thank you, Saturday morning!
Thank you, tapering!
This sleep-in schedule rarely happens because even when I’m not in marathon training (hello there, Saturday morning long runs), I tend to be an early riser. Sleeping past the 7:30 a.m. time is rare for me. And regardless of the time I wake up, I feel this urgency to get out of bed on weekend mornings and make the most of the day. (This same a.m.- gusto does not accompany me most weekday mornings, if you were wondering)
According to my training schedule, I should be out doing a 14-miler today, but I’m nursing some foot pain and have been taking this week off of running. (The P.A. and the chiropractor in our house have unofficially determined that it’s not a stress fracture, but more likely a tendon issue, and after an emotional roller coaster of a week where I had all but convinced myself that I was going to lose my left foot entirely, I’ve decided to accept this diagnosis and keep on my rest schedule until next week. Here’s hoping my marathon dreams aren’t going to be dashed….)
Back to the bright side.
Me – still in bed, quiet house, coffee on my nightstand, listening to the birds chirp (and neighbors yell, but I digress), and literally no plans for the next six hours. Can you say thankful?
I do have an exciting to-do list forming though, so I likely won’t be here on these pillows for much longer, but I love me a good list, especially when I actually have time to make some progress on it:
-cross train (bike, perhaps? something low/no impact…)
-renew library books
-catch up on emails
-purge a few things (my current favorite pasttime – knick knacks BEWARE!)
-send sympathy and thank you cards
Don’t be too jealous of my glamorous Saturday plans, friends.
(Pictured above: a post-run brunch after a 20-miler. The downside of NOT running crazy long distances early on Saturday mornings, is of course, the lack of excuse to binge on eggs benedict. Give and take, ya know?)
