I’ve heard nasty rumors that there are State Fair haters out there. Actually, I’ve heard this sentiment directly from the sources.
I am unable to comprehend this.
I love the State Fair.
It’s turned into an annual tradition since I became a Minnesotan seven years ago.
And so, a power paragraph for all of you fourth-graders or former fourth-graders out there on Why I Love the State Fair. (Do kids these days still write power paragraphs? Gosh, I hope so.)
I really really really love the Minnesota State Fair for three very compelling reasons. The first reason that I love the Minnesota State Fair is because there is nothing else like it. I grew up in Illinois, where there is probably an Illinois State Fair in the capital city, but everyone knows that only state politicians spend time in Springfield before they go to jail, so I stayed far away from Springfield most of my life. The second reason I love the State Fair is because of the fabulous food options available. This year, I ate a Minnesota corn dog, candied bacon doughnut sliders, burnt butt ends, cheesey French onion monkey bread, a Reuben pickle dog, a spicy pork bowl, a candied bacon BLT sandwich, an apple cider freezie, fried potato crisps, a chocolate milkshake, Sweet Martha’s cookies, and probably a few more things that I forgot to mention. This food tasted really good and you need food to live, so the State Fair is important. The last reason I love the State Fair is the exciting entertainment available. I got to see baby farm animals, a lumberjack show, people riding high-flying
death traps fair rides, a fiddle contest, a cool demonstration on how to make salsa really fast, and a guy with a mullet wearing a really offensive T-shirt with the sleeves cut off. In conclusion, the Minnesota State Fair is a unique event, with a lot of tasty food options and interesting things to watch.
A+ work, if I do say so myself!
Until next year, State Fair!
